Cerdisa

On 27 October, the ADI Design Index 2021 exhibition opened at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, and Metal Design by Cerdisa is among the innovations nominated for the next Compasso d'Oro award.

With the 2021 edition of the ADI Design Index, the public presentation of the best Italian design selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory has resumed its usual schedule. After the 2020 edition, which was held last June due to the health emergency, shortlisting for the next Compasso d’Oro – the 25th edition, which will take place in 2022 – has been completed.

ADI Design Index 2021 was presented at the ADI Design Museum in Milan on 27 October. The exhibition with some of the selected products is on display at the ADI Design Museum until 7 November 2021, after which it will move to Rome.

Together with ADI President Luciano Galimberti and Fondazione ADI Collezione Compasso d'Oro President Umberto Cabini, speakers included Lara Magoni, Lombardy Regional Councillor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion; Alessia Cappello, Milan City Councillor for Economic Development and Labour Policies; and Ambrogio Rossari, from the Scientific Coordination Committee of the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.

The 2021 edition focuses on three key words adopted by the G20 of Culture, which met in Rome last July: People, Planet, Prosperity. Three words that take on a special meaning for design: “People requires us to adopt a broad vision of civilised, dignified and forward-looking coexistence,” commented ADI President Luciano Galimberti. “Planet suggests a reflection on the transition towards green economies, for a man-nature relationship where man is an equal partner rather than the priority factor. And, given that only a world freed from the anxieties of subsistence can afford to look at and achieve the best that life has to offer, for us Prosperity translates into an invitation to encourage technological advances.”

The selected products – 233 out of the 1,017 applications submitted, plus 28 student projects selected in the Targa Giovani section – are divided as usual into various thematic areas. In addition to the classic Design for Living section (48 products selected), there are particularly numerous products from the Design of Materials and Technological Systems (24), Research for Business (17) and Theoretical Research (17 studies and volumes published), all of which testify to the vitality of innovation in the ideas and practical solutions of Italian design.

Selection of Metal Design

Metal Design by Cerdisa was selected for the field of Design of Materials and Technological Systems due to its originality and technological innovation, thanks to which digital decoration on porcelain stoneware has made an evolutionary leap.

The collection reproduces the craftsmanship of délabré metalwork on the latest generation of stoneware and adds two Tech Pluses related to the production technology applied to Gruppo Cerdisa Ricchetti products.

T2D DIGITAL PROCESS

Touch to Digital is the name we have given to the surface effect obtained thanks to the digital “glue and grit” application system.

The three-dimensional Diamond texture derives precisely from the adoption of this technology and has been designed to embellish the substrate material: the perfect interlocking between the graphics drawn by the ink and the glue, followed by a drop of fine grit, gives the surface a controlled thickness relief.

In addition, T2D imbues the tiles with a continuous interplay of gloss and matt, which is especially noticeable against the light: this achieves realism in three different dimensions: colour, reflection and relief.

G+S Shining Gloss

The Deco geometric motif is obtained using “clearcoat” application technology, which we have named Gloss and Shine: it consists of centring between the provided ink artwork and the glossy material; the end result gives the surface a visual play of gloss and matt.

The same effect is achieved with the délabré background, highlighting every sign of machining and every trace of oxidation on the solid background in a measured manner.

An eclectic collection that frees the metal effect from the image of an exclusively industrial material, making it the main feature in the conception of a new model for atmospheric interiors where textures and colours transform its charm into extreme elegance.

Gruppo Cerdisa Ricchetti is proud that one of its collections is among the best in Italian creativity and design of the year, contributing together with ADI to spreading the design and project culture on an international scale.
